Description

Carleton Rode War Memorial is situated in a graveyard on Church Road, Carleton Rode. Made of Portland stone, the memorial features a Latin cross that stands approximately 3.6 meters high. It has an integral shaft and a moulded lower section, which is placed on a square-section base adorned with rustic, natural rock-like dressing around the edges and smooth faces for the inscriptions. This base is elevated on a four-stepped platform.

The inscription on the memorial reads: IN MEMORIAM/ (NAMES)/ GOD KING COUNTRY/ 1914 – 1918/ 1944/ (NAMES).
