Description
Trowse Old Hall is a house that has been subdivided into flats and maisonettes. It was originally built in 1721 and refaced in the Gothick style around 1770. The building features colourwashed flint and brick with pantiled roofs and has a facade that rises to 2-3 storeys. The central recessed bay contains a panelled door topped by a rounded overlight. There is a roundel on the first floor, and above it, a punched cinquefoiled circle surrounded by whole flint. The giant pilasters flanking the recessed bay have flint rustication. The windows feature 2-light Y tracery under arched heads, including a late 18th-century two-bay extension to the east. Some windows have been renewed while others are blind. The building is topped with crenellated parapets that conceal hipped roofs, and two large brick stacks rise above the parapets. There is also a 20th-century full-height extension at the rear.
