Description
This is a barn, formerly a dovecote, located about 120 meters west-southwest of Old Hall. It dates from the 17th century and the early 19th century. The structure is built of brick and covered with pantiles. Half of the building features 17th century English bond brickwork. Originally square in plan as a dovecote, it was converted into a barn by demolishing one wall and extending to the southeast. There are opposing cart entrances in the 19th century extension, which are beneath a segmental arch on the north side. In the 17th century section, there is one low blocked opening to the north and one original mid-height opening that is blocked, along with another later opening blocked to the south. The gable ends show tumbling-in, and the west gable is built onto the 17th century wall. Inside, the 17th century end has a series of closely spaced blocked holes that likely provided fixing for timber nesting boxes. The roof features 19th century butt-purlins.
