Description
Pennoyers School was built in 1401 as a chapel for the Guild of St James. In 1670, William Pennoger established a school room within the building. The original structure's walls and buttresses remain, having been re-roofed and integrated into the late 19th-century school. The building features flint rubble with stone dressings and a steep black glazed pantile roof with gabled ends. It is a single storey. On the north side, there is a large two-centred arch window with stone mullions, and to the left, there was originally a moulded two-centred arch doorway with fleurons in the arch, which is now enclosed in a 19th-century addition. The corners of the west end have diagonal buttresses. The south side mirrors the north with two windows of the same style. A large red brick school building was added to the east side in the late 19th century.
