Description

The Grange is a 17th-century timber-frame house, later plastered. It has a steep roof covered with black glazed pantiles and gabled ends, along with a modillion eaves cornice. Brick chimney stacks are located off-centre and at each end of the building. The house is two storeys high with an attic, and has five windows. These windows are sash windows with glazing bars set within exposed casings. On the right-hand side of the ground floor are two canted bays with sash windows and glazing bars. Modern flat-roofed dormers have been added to the attic. A brick addition dating to the 18th century extends from the rear, also two storeys high with an attic, and includes a porch at the east end featuring Tuscan columns and an entablature. The interior includes stop-chamfered ceiling beams, as well as two 18th-century carved wooden fireplaces and one marble fireplace, originally from Flixton Hall.
