Description

Shelfanger Hall is a late 16th or early 17th century timber-frame house that has been plastered. The ground floor is later faced with brick, and the first floor jetties slightly. It features a steep gabled roof covered with pantiles and has two storeys. The building has a long range of five widely spaced windows, which are likely early 20th century casements. The ground floor includes two modern glazed porches and there is a large brick chimney stack at the east end. The southeast wing, probably from the 17th century, is constructed of plastered timber-frame and brick, with a pantile roof and is two storeys lower than the main house. There is a rear extension from the late 19th or early 20th century made of painted brick that runs along the entire length of the building. Shelfanger Hall is situated on a moated site.
