Description
The Church of All Saints is a Grade I listed building located on Shelfanger Church Road. It features an early 14th-century west tower characterized by diagonal buttresses, an embattled parapet with chequer flushwork, two-light bell-openings with Y-tracery, sexfoiled west sound-holes, and a pyramidal tiled roof. The chancel, also from the early 14th century, includes an east window with intersecting tracery. The nave dates from the 14th century and has 15th-century Perpendicular windows, along with one Decorated north window. A notable feature is the 15th-century timber-frame north porch, which has flint infill, a gabled roof, a four-centred arch with carved spandrels, and a moulded timber roof. Inside, the nave boasts a scissor-rafter roof, while the chancel has a 19th-century roof. There are mural fragments at the east end of the chancel, a late 14th-century octagonal font, and part of a Decorated wooden traceried screen in the tower arch. The church is constructed of flint with stone dressings and has slate roofs.
