Description

Orchard House is a 17th-century house, altered in the 20th century. It is constructed of brick in English bond, with plain tiles on the front roof slope and pantiles to the rear. The house is two storeys high and has a somewhat irregular arrangement across four bays. A door is located to the left of the centre. There are three 4-light casement windows on the ground floor, and four similar casements on the first floor; one of these is a 2-light casement. The roof is gabled, with a 20th-century ridge stack positioned to the right of the centre. A 17th-century, rebuilt internal gable end stack is located on the north side, featuring a rectangular plinth and a rectangular flue constructed with serrated brickwork. A two-storey, gabled extension abuts the north gable. The rear of the house is a mixture of 20th-century outshuts and windows, but a 3-light 17th-century timber window with ovolo mullions is visible under the eaves on the left side. The roof structure features tie beams, principals, two tiers of butt purlins and collars. The visible internal features are all of 20th-century origin.
