Description

Scole War Memorial is a First World War memorial built in 1921, located by the roadside on a wide verge on the north side of Bungay Road, near the junction with Norwich Road in Scole, Norfolk. It features a 3.6-meter tall Latin cross with chamfered edges, standing on a three-tiered octagonal base, which also has chamfered edges. The tiers of the base display inscriptions in incised and blacked lettering. The main dedicatory inscription reads: "IN GLORIOUS MEMORY OF// (NAMES)// WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES FOR THEIR COUNTRY IN THE GREAT WAR 1914 – 1918/ THEIR NAME LIVETH FOR EVERMORE." The memorial is made of Portland stone.
