Description
No. 21 is a shop located in Hingham Market Place, dating from the 17th century or earlier. The building features a timber frame that was refronted in the 18th century with a painted brick façade. It has a steeply pitched black-glazed pantile roof, with one end gabled and the other hipped. The eaves are overhanging and supported by small paired brackets. The building has two storeys; on the first floor, there are three sash windows with glazing bars, while the ground floor has two sash windows with glazing bars as well. The central doorway is pilastered and features a fluted frieze, a dentilled cornice, a moulded architrave, and a fielded panel door. To the right, there is an early 20th-century splayed shop window with a modillion cornice. At the rear, there is a plastered wing, likely from the 17th century, which has a steep pantile roof with a gable end.
