Description

The Bawburgh War Memorial, likely erected in 1920, is located in the churchyard of St Mary and St Walstan Church on Church Street in Bawburgh, South Norfolk. It is prominently positioned by the path leading to the church. The memorial features a polished wheel-head cross made of pink granite, set on a tapering plinth that is raised on a square-sectioned black base. The plinth has incised inscriptions and the entire structure stands 2.3 meters high.

The inscription reads: "TO/ THE GLORY OF GOD AND/ IN GRATEFUL MEMORY OF/ (NAMES)/ WHO MADE THE SUPREME SACRIFICE/ IN THE GREAT WAR 1914 – 1919/ THEIR NAME LIVETH FOR EVERMORE/ ECCLUS XLIV.14/ (NAMES)/ 1939 – 1945."
