Description
Nos 1A, 1B, and 1C on Market Hill are early 19th-century buildings that stand three stories tall and feature three windows with sash frames and glazing bars. They are constructed from white brick with splayed corners and topped with a slate roof. The eaves have a mutular soffit. The ground floor of the buildings includes a shop front with a wooden case supported by fluted Ionic engaged columns.
On the west side, No 1B has a six-panel door with fielded upper panels and a patterned oblong fanlight, all within a wooden case that has pilasters. The ground floor of No 1A has a modern shop, while the upper floors feature three sash windows. The east side of No 1A has one sash window on the upper floors and a shop on the ground floor.
These buildings form a group with Nos 17, 17A, and 18 Market Place, as well as Nos 1A, 1B, 1C, 2, 4, 5, 6, 8, and 9.
