Description

Priory Farm House is a 17th-century farmhouse. It is constructed of red brick, with a west wall of flint and brick, rendered and whitewashed, and has a steeply pitched roof covered in corrugated pantiles. The house is two storeys high. The west facade is whitewashed and has two ground floor and two first floor sash windows, each with a single vertical glazing bar, and widely spaced window openings. A half-glazed door is located between the ground floor openings. Two small 20th-century casements are at the north-west corner. A plain brick pilaster is located at the south-west corner. The south gable is parapeted and has an internal chimney stack, with a blocked first floor window. The east wall features a range of four two-light casements with glazing bars. A plat band runs at first floor level. Two ground floor openings have been blocked – one doorway and one window opening, both with segmental heads. A central axial chimney stack is visible. The north gable has a tall, partly rebuilt coped parapet. The rebuilt internal chimney stack is visible. Two staged diagonal brick buttresses, significantly eroded, extend from the base of the gable wall to first floor level. The gable base has moulded brick eaves that oversail, along with brick finials.
