Description

York House and the adjacent property at No. 17 form a pair of early 19th-century houses on the north-east side of Victoria Street. The buildings are constructed of red brick with a pantile roof, a brick ridge chimney, and two gable-end stacks. They are two storeys high and feature six windows on the first floor, with each house exhibiting a symmetrical arrangement. The panelled front doors, one of which is partly glazed, are set within recessed round-headed arches constructed of gauged brick and topped with elaborate fanlights featuring intricate glazing bars. Original 16-pane sash windows are fitted, each with a flat gauged brick arch. A box cornice runs along the roofline, above which there is a rendered parapet to the gables.
