Description

These are two shops located on the north side of Upper St Giles Street, dating from the late 17th and early 18th centuries, although they were refaced in the 19th century. The front is rendered with a decorative, simulated half-timbered effect on the right side. The buildings are three stories high and feature six windows on the second floor. Number 77 has a centrally placed door with plain pilasters, a flat hood, and a rectangular fanlight with radial glazing bars. To the right of the door is a shopfront with a fascia supported by consoles. Number 79 has a 20th-century shopfront and door with a rectangular fanlight at the extreme right. Sash windows with glazing bars are found throughout, alongside one three-light casement window. A paired bracket cornice runs below the parapet, and the building is topped by a gabled roof.
