Description
La Rouen is a public house located on Farmers Avenue, originally known as The Plough Inn. The building dates back to the 16th century and was altered in the 18th century, with a 19th-century extension along Market Avenue. It features a roughcast exterior and a pantile roof, situated on a corner site.
The elevation facing Farmers Avenue has three storeys and two bays, with a central door that has a moulded timber surround. There are sash windows on the ground and first floors, while the second floor has casement windows. A fascia cornice runs along the top.
On the Market Avenue side, the building has two storeys with three widely spaced first-floor windows and an additional bay on Farmers Avenue. The pub front is simple, with plain pilasters and a fascia, featuring one sash window with glazing bars and two casement windows. The roof is hipped.
