Description

Gothick House is an early 19th-century house located in King’s Head Yard, set at a right angle to and away from the street line. It was renovated in the 20th century and features a 20th-century two-storey extension at right angles to the main facade. The house is constructed of brick with a slate roof.

The north elevation has three storeys and three bays, with a central door set beneath a pediment supported by plain consoles. Sash windows with glazing bars are present throughout, and a central blind lunette sits on the third floor. The east elevation also features sash windows, with intersecting tracery in the top sash and balconies on the first and second floors. A paired bracket cornice runs along the top of the facade, and a hipped roof completes the structure.

Inside, the house has an oval staircase hall containing a stair with a handrail, and a renewed oval lantern in a plaster vault overhead. Decorative chinoiserie door surrounds are found in the staircase hall.
