Description

This building, located at 50 All Saints Green, is a stable constructed around 1895, which was later converted into upholstery works in the mid-20th century. Designed by A.F. Scott, it features red brick laid in Flemish bond with decorative moulded brickwork and a machine tile roof.

The exterior is two storeys high and has a symmetrical east front with a projecting central bay that ends in a shaped gable. The ground floor of the projection includes a mid-20th century brick porch. To the right, there is a five-light mullioned timber casement window; to the left, there are a three-light and a two-light mullioned timber casement window, along with a boarded window at the extreme left. A moulded platband separates the floors and is adorned with a band of rosettes. Above the porch, there is a panel featuring sunflowers and leaves in moulded brick, beneath a six-light mullioned casement window set in an arched recess. The outer first-floor windows are four-light, situated within corbelled projections that rise to shaped gables and arched niches. All window niches have interlocking brick nogging in the tympana.

The platband continues onto the north return, which has double timber doors on the ground floor. A mid-20th century concrete external staircase leads to a first-floor loading door. The shaped gable end contains a circular recess decorated with sunflowers and leaves arranged in a stepped diamond pattern.

On the south return, there is a shaped gable that features pigeon nesting boxes arranged in five tiers: one in the top tier and five in the bottom tier, each with moulded brick perches.

The interior has been partitioned for use as offices and workshops.
