Description

This is an early 17th century street range, which was made taller and re-faced in the 18th century. A later 17th and 18th century rear range was altered in the 19th century. The building is constructed of brick, flint rubble and timber-frame, with pantile roofs, and takes the form of an L-shape with a long rear range along a yard.

The street range is three storeys high and four bays wide. It has a simple public house facade featuring round-headed windows and a centrally located door. A carriage entry is positioned at the extreme left. The first floor has sash windows with glazing bars and segmental arches. The second floor has casement windows, also with glazing bars and segmental arches. A moulded brick cornice runs along the top of the street range.

The rear range is two storeys high. The right side has a jettied first floor. There are five widely spaced first floor windows. A right-hand off-centre door has a fanlight, and a single-storey canted bay is positioned to the left. To the right of the door is a three-light window. A glass lean-to is supported by timber columns. The first floor windows are mullion and transom style. A small gable-end to the left of the jetty features a mullion and transom first floor window, with a 20th century brick top-half. The left-hand side of the rear range has four windows at ground floor and two at first floor, all boarded at the time of survey.
