Description

Fairstead is a cottage dating from the 19th century and earlier. It is constructed of brick, flint, and thatch, and stands two storeys tall with a brick plinth. The front features scattered 19th-century casement windows and two plank doors. The right-hand gable wall shows tumbling in and indicates that the roof has been raised; there is evidence of a previous single-storey building on a flint plinth with a platband between the ground and attic storeys. There is no evidence of an earlier structure on the left-hand gable wall.
