Description
The White House is an 18th-century house located on the north-west side of High Street in Cley Next the Sea. The building is rendered and features black glazed pantiles. It has four bays and two storeys. The windows are sashes with glazing bars, consisting of four panes by four panes on the ground and first floor bays, and a six-paned fixed window with a moulded frame in the fourth bay on the ground floor, with a sash window above it. There is a six-panelled door with panelled reveals situated between the first and second bays, and an additional door in the third bay, with a blank opening above. The gable ends have parapets topped with stone pyramidical finials at their bases. The right gable is constructed of flint with some brick and erratics, and has brick dressings, while the left gable is rendered and colourwashed, having been rebuilt in brick above the eaves. There is a two-storeyed extension at the rear that is of no special interest. The building is included for its group value.
