Description

No 48 on High Street is an early 17th-century building constructed from a mix of flint and brick, featuring metal tie ends on the rear gable. The exterior is lined and painted with stucco, and it has a pantile roof. The building is two stories high and has four sash windows, which now only have central glazing bars. The shop front is wide, with a central entrance and a wooden case. Inside, there are wide fireplaces and massive hewn beams, along with an early 18th-century cupboard that has shaped shelves. No 48, along with No 46 and Nos 52 to 56 (even), forms a group of buildings of historical significance.
