Description
Jubilee Cottage is a Grade II listed cottage, which was originally two separate dwellings, dating from the late 17th century to early 18th century. It is constructed of coursed flint and brick, featuring a flint plinth and a pantile roof. The cottage has a two-cell plan and is one storey high with an attic.
The west front includes two-light casements with glazing bars, found in two dormers and three ground floor windows, one of which is in a blocked former doorway. The eaves have a dentil cornice, and there are internal stacks at the gable ends, with raised parapets on the gables. The south gable facing the street is made of flint with a brick pattern of lozenges and has a narrow brick-capped plinth. It features two small attic windows, one of which is blocked.
The east front showcases a coursed brick and flint mosaic. The chimney bay on the left is offset by about 10 centimeters and has brick quoins, while the chimney bay on the right displays a different mosaic pattern. There is a central coped porch made of wood and lattice, with two casement windows. The eaves have been rebuilt.
Inside, the staircase is now located centrally, whereas it was previously situated behind the north stack. There is a roughly chamfered longitudinal beam in the north cell. A single-storey extension has been added to the north, constructed of pebble flint and covered with black glazed tiles. A stone plaque on the gable is inscribed with "ITM (John Thomas Mott) 1874."
