Description
South Lodge to Barningham Hall is a lodge dated 1807, possibly designed by H. & J.A. Repton. It is constructed of red brick and covered with thatch, featuring an L-shaped plan and a single storey. The central gabled porch has square wooden posts and plain tiles, with inverted barge boards and a ledged and battened door. To the right of the porch, there is a 3-light casement window with glazing bars. The right gable is rendered and half-timbered, supported by curved braces, and displays a wooden shield inscribed with "ITM" (John Thurston Mott) and the year 1807, along with cusped barge boards. There is a ground floor bay window on this side. An additional thatched single storey wing extends to the east, and at the rear, there is an external stack featuring three stout Tudor Revival chimneys adorned with lozenge decoration.
