Description

Clip Street Farmhouse is a house dating from the 16th century or early 17th century, consisting of two sections. It features flint walls with brick dressings and a red pantiled roof. The eastern part is a two-storey 'T'-plan house, while the western addition is a two-storey through passage house with four bays. The earlier section on the east has brick dressings and quoins, with late 19th century plate glass sash windows and 20th century windows. The roof is steeply pitched.

The through passage house has a south-facing off-centre two-storey porch, which includes brick pilasters, a moulded brick string course, and a pediment designed as a flush brick triangle. The parapet on the first floor has been altered, and there is a filled-in arch to the west. The entrance features a four-centred wooden arch with an eight-panelled door and moulded stops. Both the ground and first floors have three late 19th century plate glass sash windows. The eaves level has been raised with additional brick courses.

The west gable includes kneelers, quoins, and an external chimney breast with a diamond pattern stack. The stack on the east has been integrated into the through passage house, where it was originally an external stack for the earlier house. Inside, the roofs are supported by butt-purlins, collars, and wind bracing, while the ground and first floors have moulded and stopped beams. The earlier house also features moulded and stopped doorcases.
