Description

The Church of All Saints is a parish church located in Gunthorpe Bale. It features flint walls that are partly cement rendered and a slated roof. The south door and chancel date back to around 1300, while the west tower is from the 14th century. The nave is built in the Perpendicular style and includes a south porch and a north transept.

The tower has three stages, with diagonally set west buttresses. Its west face includes a niche and a two-light west window above. The tower also features four two-light belfry windows and a battlemented parapet. The nave has two three-light Perpendicular windows on the south side and a four-centred arch leading to the south porch. On the north side of the nave, there is a blocked Perpendicular door and one three-light Perpendicular window. The north transept includes a three-light Perpendicular window on the north side and two two-light return Perpendicular windows.

The chancel has three two-light straight-headed Perpendicular windows, and the east window, dating from around 1300, has four lights with cusped tracery heads, showing a transition between Geometrical and Curvilinear styles. The south door arch and boarded door are also from around 1300. The nave consists of three bays with a 15th-century arched braced roof. There is a decorated tower arch and a Perpendicular arch leading to the north transept.

Inside, there is a 15th-century octagonal font adorned with Passion instruments and flowered panels. The chancel arch and the close-set scissors braced truss roof in the chancel are from around 1300. The chancel's south window features re-assembled glass from the 14th and 15th centuries. In the nave, there is a painted representation of the Royal Arms of the Stuart dynasty, with later ciphers painted over.
