Description

The Church of All Saints is a Grade I parish church located on the south side of The Street in Morston. The building has fabric dating from the 12th century, but the majority is from the 13th century. It features flint walls with stone dressings and includes a west tower, north and south porches, a nave, north and south aisles, and a chancel. The base of the tower is from the late 12th century, while the rest of the structure is primarily from the 13th century, including the tower with its windows, the chancel, and the arcades with four bays and clerestory windows that have quatrefoils set in squares. The aisles, west windows, and south doorway date to the late 13th century. The roofs of the nave, chancel, and north aisle are from the 15th century. The bell stage of the tower was partly rebuilt in brick around 1800, featuring south bell openings with a honeycomb pattern similar to contemporary barn architecture.

The church is whitewashed throughout, including the stone piers, and has clear glass windows. Inside, there is a prominent 15th-century octagonal font with symbols of the Evangelists on its base, as well as the base of a 15th-century screen and part of 15th-century carving reused in the tower arch screen. The 17th-century holy table and communion rails, along with mid-19th-century stalls and benches, complete the interior. The Butter tomb located in the churchyard is listed separately.
