Description
The White House is an 18th-century house located at right angles to the street in Baconsthorpe. It features a rendered finish with black glazed pantiles, while the right side has unglazed tiles. The building has three bays and two storeys, with gable parapets supported by shaped kneelers. There are end internal stacks made of gault brick, each with a projecting base and an oversailing cap topped with two yellow chimney pots that have hexagonal caps. The windows are flush sashes with glazing bars, and there are tripartite sashes with glazing bars on the ground floor. The central doorcase is adorned with square pilasters that have fluted capitals, topped by a plain entablature.
To the left, there is a lower one-and-a-half storey extension built of brick over a flint base, also covered with pantiles. This extension features a segmental-headed door to the right and a two-light casement window to the left, along with another two-light casement with glazing bars on the upper floor. The rear of the house is constructed of coursed flint with a brick mosaic, and it has a central two-storey wing with the upper floor rebuilt in Fletton brick. Inside, there is an open string staircase with square-sectioned balusters and a wreathed handrail.
