Description
Grove Farmhouse is a house dating from around 1790, constructed of red brick and topped with black glazed pantiles. The building has two storeys and features five bays. There are four sash windows on the ground floor and five on the first floor, all with glazing bars and set under flat rubbed-brick arches. The central porch is designed in a simplified Ionic style, supported by two columns and antae, and includes a frieze and entablature. The doorcase has a fluted architrave and corner paterae, with a six-panel raised and fielded door and a rectangular fanlight featuring leaded glazing bars. The eaves are adorned with a wooden modillion cornice, and the gables are coped, with two end stacks. The rear of the house forms a T plan and has three storeys, with the lower two levels made of flint with brick dressings and rubble work, while the top storey is of brick. The lower storeys may date back to the 17th century.
