Description

The Hill House is a public house located in Happisburgh. The building features a 17th century rear wing, which has been altered, and an early 18th century front range, also altered. It is constructed from colourwashed flint and bricks, topped with pantiled roofs, and is designed in an L shape. The two-storey rear wing is made of whole flints and has an extension built against its north wall. The south wall is concealed by a three-storey hipped structure known as Cliff Top House. The roof is gabled with two ridge stacks on opposing slopes.

The front range consists of one storey and a dormer attic, arranged in three bays. A central door is flanked by a late 20th century tripartite sash window on either side, all set beneath a segmental arch. Above these openings, there are three through-eaves dormers featuring 20th century sashes under gabled roofs. The building has a dentil eaves cornice and a gabled roof that is hipped to the south, with a stack at the northern gable end.

Inside, the property retains a fireplace associated with the northern stack and another fireplace at the south end of the east wall. The southern half of the interior has a spine beam, while the northern half features bridging beams, all of which are chamfered and have run-out stops. The joists are plain.
