Description
Nos 44 and 46 on High Street are 17th century or earlier buildings made of stuccoed flint and brick. They feature a steep black-glazed pantile roof with gabled ends and stand two storeys tall with an attic. The first floor has four windows: two small two-light casements with glazing bars on the left and two two-light wood mullion/transom casements on the right. The ground floor projects slightly, featuring one sash window with glazing bars and a three-light sash window. There is a right-hand fielded panel door in a heavy doorcase and a modern fielded panel door on the left. A rebuilt central brick chimney stack is present, and the buildings are said to have vaulted brick cellars. Inside No 46, there is a first-floor mural dated "GW 1683" that includes the Royal Coat of Arms flanked by vases of flowers.
