Description
The Grove is a large house dating from around 1800, located on Overstrand Road. It is constructed of whitewashed brick and is partially covered in ivy. The building features a low-pitched hipped roof made of pantiles and has two storeys. On the first floor, there are five sash windows with glazing bars, while the ground floor has three widely spaced sash windows with sidelights and glazing bars. All window openings are topped with cambered arches.
The entrance is positioned to the right of the centre and features a moulded architrave doorcase with a semi-circular traceried rectangular fanlight above a six-panel door. The porch is supported by two unfluted columns and has a Doric entablature, although it is now glazed in. The house also includes a two-storeyed splayed bay with sash windows on both the east and west ends. The overall layout is L-shaped, with a three-storey wing at the rear (south).
