Description
Ivy Farm Cottages is a house, originally built around the 16th and 17th centuries, and remodelled in the 19th century. It is now divided into three cottages. The building is constructed of flint with brick detailing, and has a rectangular plan, with 20th-century extensions to the rear. The facade has six bays over two stories, with a slight splay in the wall between the second and third bays. The windows are 20th-century casements set in original openings. Doors are situated in the second, third, and fifth bays, with the doors in the second and fifth bays in earlier openings, featuring chamfered reveals. A plank and muntin door, retaining its original frame, is located in the fifth bay. A blocked ground-floor opening with a timber lintel is on the right-hand side, and a blocked first-floor opening is on the left-hand side. There are three axial stacks. An external brick staircase originally served all floors; it now only connects the first and attic floors. Two brick-dressed buttresses are present on the right-hand gable wall, and an external staircase is located on the left-hand gable wall. Inside, a masonry chimney piece, now painted, features a Tudor arch with rosettes, a flat pediment, a Prince of Wales feathers design, and rosette decoration. Several plank and muntin floors remain in their original frames.
