Description

This is a school building, dated 1826, though not the original structure. It is constructed of flint with gault brick dressings, featuring a gault brick central projection. The roof is slate to the front and a composite material imitating slate to the rear. The building has an L-shaped layout.

The front facade is a regular arrangement of nine bays and features buttresses. A projecting porch occupies the central bay, topped with a crow-stepped gable and finials. A lower brick extension to the porch displays the dates 1826 and 1976 within a two-centred arch, and has a castellated parapet with finials and niches on either side. An axial stack is present on the porch. Eight tall, square-headed windows with eight lights are visible, with two-centred arch glazing bars in the upper two panels. Large wooden eaves brackets and corner finials are also present. A spirelet supports a bell. The gable ends feature two lancet windows each with Y-tracery glazing bars and brick dressings beneath hood moulds. A brick roundel with stone tracery sits above the windows, and corner finials are present.

A second range of five bays is positioned to the rear, likely of a later date, but replicates the decorative details of the front.
