Description

South View is an early 18th-century house located on Weasenham Road in Great Massingham. The house is constructed of roughly knapped and squared flint laid in courses, with brick dressings. The roof is covered in smut pantiles. It is two storeys high and has two bays. The ground floor has two 3-part casement windows with cross glazing, each set under a rubbed brick flat arch. The first floor has two 3-light casement windows, all with wooden frames, and two blocked brick windows. The off-centre front door has four panels, with the upper two panels glazed, and is sheltered by a hipped pentice canopy supported by brackets. A brick plat-band runs around the first floor, and a saw-tooth dentil eaves cornice runs along the top of the roof. Brick quoins and tumbled gables and parapets are also present. A gable stack is located on the west end, and an east stack has been removed. Attached to the house is a set of railings with a wicket gate, all seated on a brick plinth.
