Description
The Old Rectory is a former rectory house built in the early 19th century. It features a Flemish bond red brick construction with a slate roof, and is two stories high with three bays, reflecting the early 19th century Holkham Estate style. The building has two ground floor and three first floor sash windows with glazing bars, all set under flat rubbed brick arches. A central porch is supported by two round columns and two pilasters, and includes a frieze, cornice, flat roof, moulded architrave, and two leaf part glazed doors. There is a flat moulded brick platband on the first floor and a moulded brick eaves cornice. The roof is hipped with a central stack. The red brick returns and a two-story set back service wing to the west are also notable. A stable block, which is not of special interest, has a datestone reading "T.W.C. 1809," indicating its date.
