Description
The garden walls attached to the north of Creake Abbey Farmhouse date back to the medieval period and incorporate part of the cloister garth of Creake Abbey. These walls now form the garden boundaries of Creake Abbey Farmhouse and the southern boundary of the site of the nave of Creake Abbey church. Constructed from flint with stone dressings, the walls feature several notable architectural elements.
At the southwest corner, where the walls meet the south wing of Creake Abbey Farmhouse, there are 13th-century imposts and an arch that once formed an external archway to a building that is no longer standing to the west. The northwest angle contains a door embrasure with quoined jambs and a segmental stone arch, which formerly provided access to the nave of the church. Additionally, at the northeast corner, there is a 15th-century door embrasure and arch. In the center of the east-facing wall, a 13th-century door embrasure and arch with a drip mould head can be found.
