Description
The Parsonage House is a former rectory built in 1802. It features a rendered south front with clunch and brick returns, topped by a slate roof. The building has a two-storey, five-bay south front and two storeys with attic returns on the north side, showcasing a Neo-classical style.
The south front includes two two-bay outer bows that are segmental in plan, each with two ground floor and two first floor curved sash windows with glazing bars and architrave surrounds. There is a central sash window on the first floor. The central porch is supported by four piers with bases and capitals, featuring a segmental arch that supports a cornice and parapet, and has a part glazed raised and fielded door. The facade is adorned with a first floor platband, an attic cornice, and a parapet that follows the line of the segmental bows.
On the south side, there is a single-storey blank bay with an end pilaster strip and cornice, while the east return has a tripartite sash window with glazing bars. The roof is hipped and has two rendered stacks. This building replaces the rectory house where Admiral Lord Nelson was born, which was located on a different site.
