Description

This house, now offices, was built around 1810 to 1820. The east-facing street facade is red brick, rendered, and colourwashed. The roof is not visible. The building is three storeys high and has six bays. The left three bays have three sash windows with glazing bars at ground floor level. The right three bays contain a segmental carriage archway leading to a rear passageway, flanked by panelled doors with 9-paned fanlights above. A door on the right also leads to number 13A. Six sash windows are present on each of the two upper floors, arranged in groups of three separated by recessed panels. There are also narrower recesses between the windows and at the ends of the facade. All windows have glazing bars. A guilloche string course runs below the first-floor sills. A parapet features three swags, one positioned over each of the principal recessions. The passageway has two round-arched recessed panels on either side.

The interior includes a stick baluster closed-string staircase with arched wrought-iron links to the balusters at the top and bottom. It has a ramped and wreathed handrail and a dado rail. The main ground-floor front room features two free-standing, fluted Ionic columns connected by an architrave, and a plaster cornice with a leaf-trail design. A western ground-floor room has raised, large-frame panelling. The first-floor north room, originally the drawing room, has elliptical north and south walls, and an acanthus coving.
