Description
Whincop House is a house with a mid-18th century facade built onto a 17th-century core. It is constructed of red brick with a plain tile roof, and has two storeys and a dormer attic over four bays. A plinth course runs along the base. The front door is located to the left of centre, set within panelled reveals and framed by fluted Corinthian pilasters supporting an open pediment above a block architrave. Above the door is a seven-vaned fanlight. The windows are horned sash windows, each retaining one glazing bar, and are topped with gauged skewback arches. The roof is gabled, with two gabled dormers containing casements. A gable-end stack is positioned on the north side. There is minor crumbling at the head of the south gable. The rear of the house features an outshut to the north, with a pantiled catslide roof. The south part of the rear has plain tiles, and a hipped, two-storey cross wing is also present. The interior has not been inspected, but a previous description from 1972 noted a good, simple staircase and two original fireplaces.
