Description
This is a farmhouse, originally dating from around 1600, with significant additions in 1626 and 1900, and alterations in the late 20th century. The building is timber framed with brick infill, and has brick, flint, and carstone gable walls. The roof is slate.
The farmhouse is one storey high with a dormer attic. The timber frame exhibits close studding of thin timbers on a brick plinth, with straight braces at the corners. A 20th-century door is located to the right of centre, beneath a gabled porch. There are three 20th-century three-light cross casement windows. Three 20th-century gable dormers rise through deep, coved eaves. The roof is gabled.
The north gable wall is stepped and sits on a plinth. It features four two-light square mullioned windows constructed of chamfered brick, each beneath a brick hood with a label. All of these windows are now blocked except for a single light on the first floor to the right. Kneelers lead up to the coped gable head. A datestone bearing the date 1626 is positioned below a square internal gable stack. The south gable is similar in appearance, although the windows are no longer identifiable.
The west facade mirrors the timber framing and brick infill of the rest of the building. It has two 20th-century casement windows. A two-storey gault brick gabled extension projects as a cross wing to the left, displaying the datestones "C" and "CC" 1900.
