Description
The ruins of the service wing of West Dereham Abbey House are located on Wereham Road in West Dereham. This structure dates back to 1697 but includes significant remnants of abbey buildings from the late 12th century. The building is constructed of carstone, with some brick and ashlar dressings. It is a rectangular block featuring ashlar-faced diagonal corner buttresses and is one storey high with a symmetrical layout. There is a central carriage entrance beneath a basket arch. To the right, there are four round-headed window openings, some of which are blocked, and to the left, there are three similar openings, all with ashlar dressings. The walls inside divide the space into loose boxes.
