Description

The monument is a cross base and shaft, dating from the 13th century or later. It features a carstone base, a freestone plinth, and a shaft. The base may be from the 18th century. The plinth has four knobbed angles and an octagonal base, while the rectangular shaft has a fillet in the center of each side. This monument is believed to mark the site of the village that was removed during the enclosure of Houghton Park in 1729.
