Description
This is a pair of terraced houses located at 3, 4, and 5 Southgate Street in King's Lynn, dating from the early 18th century. The houses are constructed of red and yellow brick and feature a pantiled roof. They are two storeys high with a dormer attic, each house consisting of two bays. The entrance to No. 3 is on the right side of the elevation, while No. 5 has its entrance on the left. No. 3 has a panelled door beneath a small open pediment, and No. 5 has a late 20th-century glazed door set within panelled reveals, supported by two acanthus consoles under a flat hood. Each house has one renewed plate glass sash window on the ground floor with exposed boxes, and there is a blocked opening in the centre beneath a segmental arch. A platband runs along the first floor, which also features two first-floor sash windows similar to those below. The gabled roof includes two gabled dormers with casement windows. A large central ridge stack made of yellow brick with red brick dressings is present, and the east gable-head has kneelers that were rebuilt in the late 20th century. There are marks on the facade indicating the locations of former doors and windows, suggesting that the original layout was different.
