Description

The barn at Great Barn Farm, located approximately 60 meters east of Great Barn Farmhouse, dates from the 18th century and consists of two barns under a continuous roof. The structure is built of brick and covered with pantiles, featuring gable parapets. The eastern facade showcases the first barn, which has six openings arranged in English bond brick with an oversailing cornice. To the right is a three-stead barn with a vertical join, containing three large openings with wooden lintels and flanking brick buttresses. The left and right gable returns are also in English bond, with the southern return featuring a base made of flint, dressed limestone, and carstone. The rear outshut is constructed of brick in various ages, primarily in English bond, with some carstone on the south side and various openings. The external wall of the second barn includes an outshut made of chalk, with diagonal brick headers and flint.

Inside, the first barn to the south has a three-tier butt purlin roof, with the second tier braced and massive ties with struts supporting the purlins. The second barn to the north features a 19th-century king post roof, with an interior made of chalk, flint, and brick. There is a brick internal wall separating the two barns. The farmhouse itself is not listed.
