Description

This is an early 19th century house with a rear wing, originally a single property but later converted into flats in 1982. The ground floor is now numbered 21, while the first floor is designated 19B and 19C. The building is constructed of brick with pantiled roofs. The main facade has two storeys and an attic, extending across three bays, with an additional window bay providing access to Three Crowns Yard (which internally connects with number 23). The entrance to number 21 is located beneath a semi-circular archway leading to the yard. The windows are sash windows with glazing bars, set under gauged skewback arches; the horns on some of these windows are replacements from 1982. The roof is gabled and features two late 20th century dormers. The building has internal gable-end stacks. The rear wing, projecting to the north, has a set-off between the two floors and two sash windows on each floor. A 20th-century half-glazed door provides access to the flats, situated in the north gable of the front range. The interior shows little of particular interest following the 1982 conversion after its use as offices by the District Council. A roof with staggered butt purlins is present.
