Description
The White House is a pair of cottages dating from the late 18th century, with alterations made around 1900. The cottages are constructed of whitewashed clunch with brick dressings and feature a red pantiled roof. Each cottage is two storeys high and has three bays, with a single-storey addition to the south.
The northern cottage has two ground floor and three first floor flush wooden framed sash windows with glazing bars, along with a central four-panel door from around 1900. The southern cottage has one ground floor and three first floor flush wooden framed sash windows with glazing bars, also featuring a central four-panel door from around 1900.
To the south, there are two late 19th-century three-light arched-headed shop windows with segmental brick relieving arches. The building has a brick dentil eaves cornice, one brick stack on the north gable, and two ridge brick stacks. The single-storey brick shop extension to the south includes a four-panel door from around 1900 and a three-light shop window, both set under brick relieving arches, with a coped parapet and flat roof.
