Description
The ruins of the Church of St. Mary are a parish church dating from the medieval period. The structure is built of knapped flint with ashlar dressings, with the flints of the nave becoming whole. The church features a west tower and a nave, with the tower consisting of three stages, although the belfry stage is now missing. Diagonal buttresses support the tower, which has a set-off at the ringing chamber. The west window is represented by a hole, while pointed lancets can be seen in the ringing chamber. There are three very tall nave windows on both the north and south sides, with remains of stepped buttresses between them. The windows lack tracery, and two western bays have large holes in the walls. The chancel arch is adorned with roll and sunk hollow mouldings, but there is no trace of the chancel itself.
