Description

The stables at Burnley Hall are a Grade II listed building dating from the early 18th century. Constructed of brick with pantiled roofs, the building is arranged in an L shape, with the foot of the L serving as a carriage house. It is a single storey with a hay loft above. The south side features seven semi-circular windows with hinged casements, along with one blocked doorway. The eaves cornice is saw-toothed, and the gabled roof has shaped east and west gables, with the east gable including a hay loft door at the top.

On the north side, there are two doorways and four windows, three of which are semi-circular, while the fourth has been renewed and enlarged. The north wall of the carriage house has double doors for entry, and there is a Diocletian window on the west side, along with a dentil eaves cornice. This last feature indicates a late 18th-century addition, as the brickwork does not bond in with the earlier structure. Inside, the stables retain loose boxes, a brick floor, and a tack room, although the roof is not accessible.
