Description
The summerhouse, built in 1735 by Thomas Ivory, is located 250 metres southeast of Thrigby Hall. It is constructed of brick and stucco with a pantiled roof. The facade features three bays of finely gauged Flemish bond brickwork, with three rounded openings. The central opening serves as a doorway, accessed by three stone steps. The side bays originally contained sash windows, of which traces remain. Below the sills, there is an open balustrade with five turned balusters. The stucco architrave is positioned beneath a double pediment adorned with carved turrets, and the building has a gabled roof. There are rounded sash window openings on the north and south returns, while the returns and rear are made of English bond brickwork. The rear also has an external stepped stack.
Inside, the walls are plastered and raised into rectangular eared panels, decorated with rosettes and egg and dart mouldings. Arched blind windows flank the north and south sashes and are separated by pilasters, with egg and dart motifs continuing in the design. A fireplace against the rear wall is now blocked with 20th-century brick. The king post roof was added in the late 1970s. Thrigby Hall itself is not listed.
